Miller-Mize Precast is beginning a new chapter of a long history of manufacturing quality precast products. Carter and David Mize have purchased Miller Precast from Fred and Margarett Miller in May 2008. Fred and Margarett are both still active members of the business and are helping with the transition. Carter has a degree in business from Auburn University and has a great deal of professional business experience. David is a registered engineer with a degree from Auburn as well. Additionally, David brings an MBA and many years of engineering experience to this organization.

Miller-Mize Precast, Inc. started in 1969 by the Kendrick family under the name of Kendrick Concrete Products. Fred Miller was hired in that same year to help get the business started. Fred has been in precast manufacturing since 1958. He started his career in Greensboro, NC moved to Miami, FL and Peachtree City, GA before settling in Columbus, GA.

The first project Kendrick Concrete Products built was the American Family Life (now AFLAC) building in Columbus, GA for James Welch Construction Co.. Wright Associates eventually purchased the precast business from the Kendrick’s in 1980 and changed the name to Columbus Precast Inc. Fred was the plant manager and ran the business for both Kendrick and Columbus Precast.

In 1987, the opportunity to purchase Columbus Precast was presented to Fred which he enthusiastically pursued and accomplished. Subsequent to his purchasing of Columbus Precast, Fred changed the name to Miller Precast, Inc. During the past 21 years, Fred has managed and grown a very successful quality business. Now, the Mize boys are very excited and honored to have the opportunity to maintain Fred’s legacy and reputation and grow the precast business all at the same time.
